San Jose Naturopathic Medicine - Naturopathic Family Health

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine focuses on supporting your inherent healing processes to achieve optimal health and wellness and prevent disease.

Changes in your health can be triggered by stresses on your body, such as toxic exposures, infections, unhealthy foods, or mental-emotional stress. These changes can cause symptoms throughout your body, including your energy and sleep, digestive function, skin health, your reproductive system, and your mental health.

Our Naturopathic Doctors work with you, in a supportive environment, to identify and remove obstacles and to strengthen your body, allowing you to achieve optimal health.

Our holistic approach to health involves exploring your physical health, nutritional choices, lifestyle choices, and mental-emotional wellness, and how they are linked together. This allows us to identify the true root cause of symptoms, which can then be addressed directly through intentional nutrition, natural medicines and health-promoting routines and activities.

Long-term sustainable improvements in health is our providers’ goal with all of our patients.

Naturopathic Medicine in California

Due to the scope of practice limitations in California, we recommend that all of our patients, adult and pediatric, maintain a relationship with their conventional primary care provider or pediatrician. Our naturopathic doctors have limited prescribing ability and are not able to administer vaccines in the state of California.

Naturopathic medicine is guided by the following six principles:

Naturopathic doctors prioritize the safest treatments, and only explore further options when necessary.
The body has an innate ability to heal itself and this process can be naturally supported by removing obstacles that impair health and strengthening different parts of the body. Medicines derived from nature, such as herbal formulas and fresh organic vegetables and fruit, are central to building a foundation of health. Creating a lifestyle that integrates connection with nature is fundamental for health and wellness.

Naturopathic doctors identify and treat the underlying root cause of disease, providing long-term resolution without suppressing symptoms.

Every part of the human body is connected, and different symptoms are often linked to one another by a shared underlying cause. A holistic approach explores physical health, nutrition, lifestyle, and mental-emotional wellness together.
Naturopathic doctors educate patients about their health and teach the key steps for supporting the body’s own healing process. This creates a supportive environment ideal for learning about the body and implementing key steps to feel well.
Instead of starting treatment after illness has set in, Naturopathic Doctors specialize in building a foundation of health that is resilient against disease.
